About us


Monarch Resources was founded by Tom and Sandy McGrew in 1980. We began as a medical supply company but expanded solely into the funeral home and mortuary supply market in 1990.

Monarch Resources now delivers or ships to almost 2000 customers from coast to coast from an in-stock inventory at our warehouse in Arlington, Texas, of more than 2400 individual items directly related to the funeral industry.

Monarch is particularly proud of the fact that this inventory allows us to ship stock items on the day the order is received or within 24 hours at the latest.

Our Monarch Advertising Division opened in 1992 and specializes in promotional products, apparel and executive gifts.


Monarch Resources has as its sole purpose the objective of meeting the supply needs of our customers and the families they serve.

Because we live out this philosophy on a daily basis, we have come to consider it an honor to be even a very small, behind-the-scenes part of the work of your funeral home, mortuary service, crematory or cemetery.


Tom McGrew
President, Monarch Resources

Tom began his sales career in the medical supply business in 1975 and expanded into the funeral industry in 1990. Soon after, the sole focus of his company became stocking and selling funeral home, mortuary, crematory and cemetery supplies and equipment. Tom’s education background includes a degree from the Methodist Hospital of Dallas School of Radiologic Technology and BS and MS degrees from Texas A&M University—Commerce. Tom is an active and philanthropical supporter of his local community and a member of various local, state and national associations in the funeral industry. He is also a member of the Texas Funeral Directors Association Disaster Team. In 2011, Tom was named Supplier of the Year by the Texas Funeral Directors Association. And he is a Past President and current member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Arlington, Texas.

Sandy McGrew
VP, Operations, Monarch Resources
President, Monarch Advertising

In her role as VP, Operations, Sandy oversees the day-to-day operation of both companies according to the companies’ stated business goals and objectives and with respect to our Mission Statement, Vision and Core Values. Sandy writes marketing plans and strategies, business plans and processes, journal and newsprint articles, leads our management team, and recruits, hires and mentors staff. Sandy opened Monarch Advertising in 1991. Sales in this company encompass a broad spectrum of businesses, both locally and nationally, including many clients in the funeral industry. Monarch Advertising specializes in ways companies can promote their business and reward their employees with promotional products and apparel. Monarch Advertising has become known for the qualities of trust, reliability and quality of the finished product. This has been achieved by building long-term relationships with highly rated suppliers across the US. For this reason, we are able to offer a 100% guarantee on all the products we sell. Sandy majored in English and French at East Texas State University. She enjoys supporting a variety of Fine Arts groups and charities in Arlington and Fort Worth. She loves spending time with her granddaughters and teaching them to cook all kinds of sweet treats while they teach her about the beauty and joy of the world as seen through their eyes. They are awesome and often her inspiration.

Matthew Burson
Purchasing Operations Manager & Director of Inside Sales

Matt joined the Monarch Team in 2007 and immediately found his passion for taking care of all aspects of our customer care philosophy. He immediately began to utilize his negotiating skills to secure best pricing on inventory items and freight charges, both for in-bound inventory stock and outbound customer orders. Certainly, Matt is an advocate for you in some ways of which you may never be aware. Additionally, Matt loves the challenge of handling new product development for the Monarch branded products and sourcing whatever unique needs you may have, whether from a vendor or sometimes fabricating them here in our shop. He also evaluates all new products, and he is our Friday “chef” when we have cookouts! Matt’s sales skills and relationship building have built strong ties between our company and our customers. While most sales are straightforward, you will find that Matt goes to great lengths to insure that your needs are met when it comes to either in-stock or unique requests that are “off the shelf.” Matt is very sympathetic about the needs of others, both within and outside our company. He is always the first to suggest food drives for various local charities or to find a Christmas family for our company to sponsor. And he uses his building skills when he volunteers for Habitat for Humanity. Matt has a son Walker who is 4 years old. His hobbies include playing with Walker, diving and boating.

Teresa Schrack

Teresa Schrack is the head of our Bookkeeping Department. She joined our company in 2013 and brought with her 38 years of excellent bookkeeping experience. You will find her to be extremely helpful with any of your questions regarding your account, but do not be surprised if she answers the phone and takes an order or is out in the warehouse pulling an order. She loves digging in and helping customers as well as her team members. Teresa and her husband are active in their church and support the Fort Worth Chapter of the Foundation for Fighting Blindness Vision Walk and the Women’s Choice Resource Center in Fort Worth. Teresa has 5 grandsons ranging in age from 4-18 years old. She enjoys road trips, karaoke, gardening and reading.

Jack Houston
Warehouse, Shipping & Receiving Coordinator

Jack joined the Monarch Team in 2012 and immediately adopted our philosophy of customer care. With that in mind, he organizes and maintains our warehouse and directs our shipping and receiving in a very professional, knowledgeable and friendly fashion. Customers appreciate Jack’s positive outlook along with his courteous and respectful manner. For him, the customer always comes first. Jack’s personal activities revolve around his 3 children. Together they enjoy camping and all kinds of outdoor activities. Among his friends and family, Jack is known as Mr. Fixit—a title he has earned because of his love of repairing and restoring new life to all kinds of things that are broken.

Tim Houston
Outside Sales & Deliveries Coordinator

Tim, our newest employee, joined our company in a full-time role in January, 2016, and quickly embraced the Monarch philosophy of customer care. Tim knows a lot about sales since he previously spent 11 years in various sales and managerial roles. In 2008, Tim fulfilled his dream of joining the Army Reserves and has recently earned the rank of Sergeant. In all these endeavors, Tim has developed a strong sense of caring for others. His focus now, however, is on our customers and building a relationship with them of trust and service with integrity. He goes beyond the sale itself to making sure our customers have what they need and when they need it to care for the families they serve. Tim has one step-daughter a son who is 3 and a new baby boy born February 15. When he is not working, he loves spending time with his family.

Virginia Watts
Clerical & Sales Support

Virginia has worked for Monarch since 2007. She joined our team after retiring from her position as an elementary school teacher. Virginia has a very professional and friendly manner as she assists our customers on the telephone as well as in our office. She has a grown daughter in Austin of whom she is very proud. Virginia is a wonderful cook and loves nature and most especially gardening.
